Working hard in all classes, keeping up with classwork and homework, being organized and asking for help are all ways for your child to be successful academically.
Students must pass 4 out of 6 classes in order to be promoted from sixth grade to seventh grade and then from seventh to eighth. They need four points in each subject within the four quarters. An A=4 points, B= 3, C=2 and a D=1. Two of the four subjects must be a core subject, which are Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.
In order to be promoted to high school, eighth graders need the following:
- Pass four out of six classes
- Pass Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies
- Have a completed ePep, which is an electronic four year high school planner with 24 credits, and review it during eighth grade
- Have a career education component which is embedded within seventh grade social studies
Students must have 13 credits within the three years before moving on to high school in the following manner: 3 credits of Math, 3 credits of Language Arts, 3 credits of Science, and 3 credits of Social Studies. One credit of career exploration takes place within their seventh grade year during social studies.
“Course recovery” takes place when a student is deficient in those credits. This can be done in a variety of ways, such as Compass Learning and through Florida Virtual School.
